How to Add Custom Tokens to Your Web3 Wallet

How to Add Custom Tokens to Your Web3 Wallet

When you bridge tokens to a new blockchain, they may not appear in your wallet automatically. In such cases, you’ll need to manually add the custom token to your Web3 wallet to view and manage it easily.

This guide will walk you through the process of adding custom tokens to three of the most popular Web3 wallets: MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and Rabby.

Whether you’re dealing with wrapped assets, newly minted tokens, or just want better visibility, this step-by-step guide will ensure that your tokens are displayed and accessible.

How to Add Custom Tokens on MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the most popular Web3 wallet browser extensions. There are two primary ways to add ChainPort-supported custom tokens to your MetaMask wallet; automatically and manually.

How to Add Custom Tokens on MetaMask Manually

  1. On your wallet's homepage, go to the 'Tokens' tab and click 'Import tokens' at the bottom.

  2. Select the 'Custom Token' tab at the top, then enter the token address in the first field. If you're unsure where to find this, check the steps below.

  3. In most cases, the token symbol and decimals will automatically be filled. If not, visit the network's block explorer to locate the token's symbol and decimals.

  4. If you're still unable to find the details, search for the token's documentation online.

  5. Click 'Add Custom Token' to continue. A confirmation page will appear, and once you click 'Import Tokens,' the token will be added to your wallet.
